Stainless Steel Dry Powder Mixer: Dual Assurance for Seasoning Homogenization and Safety

Stainless Steel Dry Powder Mixer: Dual Assurance for Seasoning Homogenization and Safety

2026-04-14

The existing mixing equipment utilized by the composite seasoning manufacturer suffered from issues such as uneven mixing, high material residue, and dust spillage. These deficiencies resulted in significant flavor inconsistencies between product batches and made it difficult to comply with food production hygiene standards. The core objectives of this project were to elevate mixing uniformity to over 99%, minimize material residue rates, enable fully enclosed and dust-free production, and facilitate flexible, small-batch production across a diverse range of seasoning varieties.

Seasoning formulations are inherently complex, comprising a mix of high-density granules (such as salt and sugar), lightweight powders (such as spices and starches), and trace additives (such as flavor-enhancing nucleotides). The particle size distribution spans a wide range—from 20 mesh to 200 mesh—and material densities vary by a factor of more than three. Furthermore, certain ingredients are prone to moisture absorption and clumping, placing rigorous demands on the mixing equipment's shear capabilities and anti-stick properties.

A custom-engineered 316L stainless steel twin-shaft paddle mixer was developed for this application. It features mirror-polished interior walls (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm) paired with an automated scraper system, and is further equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD) module for speed control, a negative-pressure dust collection unit, and CIP (Clean-in-Place) interfaces. The equipment is sized to accommodate 500-liter batches; the paddle angles have been optimized to 45° to enhance convective shear effects, thereby ensuring the rapid and thorough homogenization of multi-component mixtures.

Results Summary: Since commissioning, the equipment has consistently maintained a mixing uniformity of 99.5%, with the batch-to-batch flavor consistency compliance rate rising to 99.8%. Material residue rates have dropped to a mere 0.03%, and cleaning time has been reduced by 60%. Dust emission concentrations now fully comply with the GB 16297 standard. Overall production efficiency has increased by 40%, with the mixing time per batch compressed from 12 minutes to just 7 minutes. These improvements result in an annual reduction in raw material loss of approximately 150,000 RMB, fully satisfying the flexible production requirements for a diverse portfolio of seasoning products.
